Shepard, Caroline 1831 - 1902

Elkader Register, Thur., 29 May 1902. Jefferson column.

On May 18th occurred the death of Caroline, wife of the late Samuel Shepard. Deceased was born in Norway, Feb. 2nd, 1831, and was married to Samuel Shepard in Dubuque Co., in August 1854. To them were born two sons, Chancy and Walter. The former dying sometime since and the later being one of the Colesburg cyclone victims three years ago the sixteenth of this month. Most of her life was spent in Clayton Co., on her farm south-west of town. Funeral services were conducted at her late home by Rev. Rodgers and interment took place at Oak Hill cemetery, May 19. Three small grandchildren survive her.
