Elkader Register, Thur., 08 May 1902.

Martha Jane Boland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Boland, of Highland township, died at her home on May 1st after an illness of six weeks. Deceased was born Jan. 14, 1887, and was in her 16th year. Funeral services occurred on Saturday last at St. Joseph's church in this city, Rev. J. F. Reilly assisted Fathers Eardley, of Volga City, and Minogue, of Elkport, officiating in Solemn High Mass, and was largely attended by neighbors and friends of the sorrowing family, who came to pay their tribute of esteem to the departed one. It is sad, so sad, to see a young life, full of hope, pass into eternity, yet it is fate. God's will and nature's way, and those who mourn, parents and sisters and brothers, must make the best of it, with the assurance that we may confidently look beyond for the family reunion when the vacant chair will be filled.- Democrat.
