Elkader Register, Thur., 13 Feb. 1902.
Mrs. G. B. Gaiser.
At her home in Elkader, Friday night Feb. 7th, occurred the death of Mrs. Gaiser. She had been a great sufferer, having been an invalid for ten years and two months, and had three strokes of paralysis.
Mrs. Gaiser was born May 1, 1823, in county Kildar, Ireland. She came as a young girl to New York and then to near Pittsburg, Pa., where a brother and sister lived. Here she married John Losch, and came to Clayton county, settling on a farm in Wagner township. Mr. Losch died in 1863, leaving her with one son and one daughter, George Losch, of Elkader, and Mrs. P. J. Cain, of this township. In 1866 she married Gottlieb Gaiser, later they moved to the farm near town and in 1896 bought a home and moved into Elkader.
The funeral was held Monday at St. Joseph's church, Rev. J. F. Reilly officiating, and was attended by a large number of sorrowing friends of the family.
(Note: WPA records indicate, Anna Gaiser, 1823 - 08 Feb. 1902, buried in St. Joseph's cemetery. Also see the gravestone photo on the IGPP.)
