James McCulloch, of Luana, committed suicide on Saturday night, Nov. 8th, by taking morphine. The suicide was premeditated but the cause is not stated. The unfortunate man was one of the old citizens of the county and was recognized as a leading farmer in the community where he lived. He was an industrious man and had accumulated considerable property. He was about 50 years of age. He purchased 10 cents worth of morphine Friday evening and took it all in one dose. He lived six hours after taking it. He leaves a wife and six children. The funeral occurred on Sunday following at Monona, Rev. C. A. Taylor preaching the sermon.
