Elkader Register, Thur., 16 Oct. 1879.
DIED- On Saturday, Oct. 11th, 1879, at the residence of Mr. A. Tiede, 955 Clay street, Dubuque, of apoplexy, Mrs. Phillipina Falkenheimer, wife of Jacob Falkenheimer, of Guttenberg, aged 45 years.
Mrs. Falkenheimer left her home at Guttenberg, Thursday in good health, and went to Dubuque, on a visit to the family of Mr. Tiede and other relatives and friends, in that city. Saturday, a short time before dinner, she was on the porch of Mr. Tiede's residence and complained of feeling nauseous, but attributing the feeling to something she had eaten thought no more of it, and went into the house, seated herself at the dinner table and partook of a very hearty meal. Soon after she left the table, a feeling of sickness again overcome her, and before anything could be done to alleviate her suffering she was taken with apoplexy, and died in a few minutes.
Mrs. Falkenheimer was born at Undelheim, Hesse Durmstadt, in 1834, in 1851 with her parents she came to the United States, and was married to Jacob Falkenheimer, in 18__ (looks like 1856). She leaves a husband and 6 children to mourn her sad and untimely death.
The remains were taken to Guttenberg Sunday evening, by special train, the funeral occurring Monday. She had many friends in Guttenberg, who sincerely mourn her death.
