Elkader Register, Thur., 31 July 1879.

DIED - Ellis - At his home in Elkader, on Sunday, July 27th, 1879, of cholera morbus, Joseph Ellis, aged 68 years.

Mr. Ellis was born in Vermont, February 4th, 1812, and was married at Streetsburg, Vermont, December 11th, 18__, to his wife, who survives him. There were born to them 9 children, 7 of whom are now living. Mr. Ellis came to Elkader about 14 years ago, and has been known as a kind neighbor, husband and citizen, respected by all and by his death his family have met with an irreparable loss.

The funeral occurred at 1 o'clock Monday, Wm. Smith officiating. It was largely attended by his many friends and relatives.
