Elkader Register, Thur., 10 July 1879. McGregor column.

DIED - On the morning of the July 4th, William Lacy, Sr., an old resident of the place, aged 87 years. He was father of William Lacy, Jr., and Mrs. Daynes.

According to the 1880 obituary of his daughter Mary A. Daynes, he was buried with his wife at their former home in Stoughton, WI:
"In July of last year she accompanied the remains of her father to the train to be conveyed to Stoughton, to which place she had consigned the body of her departed mother just two years previous." ~Obit of Mary A. Daynes, North Iowa Times, May 6, 1880; pg 3

Note: Although the death notice of Wm. Lacy gives his age as 87, the 1870 U.S. census shows him to be age 72y
