Elkader Register, Thur., 22 May 1879.
DIED- At the home of her husband in Elk township, Thursday May 15th, 1879, of consumption, Mrs. Sarah Letitia Beddow, aged _3 years (looks like 33 or 83), 3 m. and 29 days.
She was beloved in life as a devoted Christian and mother, and is mourned in death, by her many friends and relatives. A kind and appreciative husband and four children are left to mourn her loss. During her lingering illness of over a year, the last five months of which she was confined to her bed of suffering, her patience and Christian resignation was remarkable. A few hours before her death she gathered her family around her beside, and gave them a few parting words of advice, and some yielded up her life without a struggle.
Her funeral was attended by a large concourse of people, over 60 vehicles were counted at the church, which could not hold but a small portion of the people. Words of comfort and consolation were administered by Eld. E. A. Marsh, from the words "An enemy hath done this," Matt. 19-28; a text she chose for the occasion before her death.
