DIED - At his residence in Garnavillo, Feb. 2_th, of pneumonia, Eugene T. Barnes, aged __ years, 3 months and 11 days.
Eugene T. Barnes was born in Cauyahoga county, Ohio, Dec. 17th, 1843. He married Miss Catherine Wilhelmina Maurer, of Garnavillo, Nov. 6th, 1873, who with two daughters are left to mourn the loss of husband and father.
Mr. Barnes served faithfully during the late war, being a member of the 13th regiment of the regular army, and one of General Sherman's bodyguard. He was wounded twice in the battle of Vicksburg. He was Past Master of Fidelity Lodge, No. 1__, A.O.U.W., and was the representative of the lodge at the last session of the Grand Lodge, at Marshalltown.
The funeral occurred on Sunday at Garnavillo, and was largely attended, _00 persons being present, among them representatives from the Workmen's lodges of Elkader, Bismarck, Guttenberg and Clayton.
