Elkader Register, Thur., 23 Jan. 1879.

DIED - Near Otis Mill, Jan. 15, 1879, Mrs. Sarah V. McManus, aged 17 years and three months.

She was the daughter of Mr. Hugh Laxon, and was born in St. Louis county, Missouri. At the age of two years her father died and at eleven years her mother also died, leaving her in the care of Mrs. Henrictta Minor, her grandmother, who was faithful to her charge. About two years ago she came to this county and was married to Mr. John McManus, Aug. 16, 1877, to whom she has been a devoted wife. Her death was very sudden, only nineteen hours intervening between the time she was first attacked with severe spasms, which finally terminated in her death. She was much beloved and had many friends. Her funeral was conducted by Eld. E. A. Marsh, who administered words of comfort from Rev. 21:3.1.
