Sunday morning last occurred the death of the veteran William Harding. He was born in county Limerick, Ireland, Feb. 12th, 1828. At the age of 16 with his parents he removed to England where he obtained his education. At the age of 25 with his parents he came to America, locating near Darlington, Wis.

May 4th, 1861 he enlisted in Co. B., 17th Wisconsin Infantry, and served until discharged at Orangeburg, South Carolina, Aug. 9th, 1863.

He removed to Iowa some 26 years ago, locating at Buena Vista. From thence he came to Mederville, where he resided eight years and then came to Elkader where he lived on his small farm near town.

Two years ago he was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered. He was removed to town where every care was taken to make him comfortable. One brother, his wife and eight children survive him.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's church, Rev. Father Reilly officiating in the solemn service of the church. At the grave the members of Boardman Post, 184, G.A.R., participated with their funeral service.

Another old soldier has been delivered from his suffering and mustered into the grand army above. He has fought the last great battle, may he rest in peace.
