At her home at Elma, Iowa, Sept. 15, 1899, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary ann Trunkey. Mary Ann King was born Feb. 4th, 1811, in Jefferson, Ashtabula county, Ohio, and was eighty-eight years old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage with Francs Trunkey, Nov. 27, 1834. They came to Clayton county in 1851 and resided on a farm near Garnavillo until the death of Mr. Trunkey in 1881. Since then she has lived at Elma. Grandma Trunkey was a kind, considerate Christian and took the Bible as her rule and practice. She leaves four sons, one daughter, twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, besides numerous friends in this vicinity and at Elma to mourn the loss of a loving mother and friend.
