Elkader Register, Thur., 03 Aug. 1899.

On Thursday evening last at the residence of her son John, in Highland township, occurred the death, of old age, of Mrs. Patrick Melary.

Mary Welch was born in County Tipperary, Ireland, and came to this country at an early day. In the spring of 1854, she was married to Patrick Melary, and for the most of the time until her death has resided in Highland. Of this union two children were born, one, an infant dying when but a few months old, John alone surviving the loss of both father and mother, Mr. Melary having gone before on Oct. 5th, 18_3. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Melary has gradually failed until she was at rest. The funeral was held at St. Joseph's Church Saturday morning, Rev. Reilly officiating. Peace be with the departed.
