At the residence of his granddaughter, Mrs. John Hennes, Wednesday morning, April 26, 1899, occurred the death of Timothy Sullivan. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, Sept. 8, 1817, and was a son of B. and Margaret Sullivan.
He was married in Ireland, in March, 1840, to Margaret Shea. Of this union six children were born, only one surviving, Eliza, wife of Geo. Miller, of this township.
Deceased came to America in 1846, landing in New York, where he engaged in railroading, afterwards moving to Ohio, where in February, 1852, his wife died. In December, 1853, He married Mrs. Bridget Gibbons, who has since died.
They came to Elkader in 1856 and settled on a farm near town. For the past few years he has resided in town. Tim has been a hard-working man and having done with earth has passed away to the eternal rest. Peace be with him. The funeral will be held Friday morning at St. Joseph's church.
