Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Feb. 1899. McGregor column.
Wm. Gray, another old settler passed Wednesday afternoon. He has been ill for some time and death was not unexpected. He was active in business and social matters in town and will be missed. He leaves to mourn his loss a son, John Gray, and one daughter, Miss Carrie Gray. His funeral will likely be conducted by the Masons as he was an honored member of that fraternity.
