Elkader Register, Thur., 19 Jan. 1899. Strawberry Point column.

Last Thursday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thos. Dunham, occurred the death of E. Wilcox aged 84 years. He has been ailing for a long time and was taken to his bed a few weeks ago. He gradually grew worse and was a constant sufferer until his death. The cause of his death was old age. As a citizen he was well known throughout the country and known only to be honorable and respected. He leaves five daughters and one son. Funeral services were held at Mrs. Dunham's home last Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Hestwood.
