The funeral services of Mrs. J. R. Baker were held at the home Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Isenberg, pastor of the Christian church at Arlington. Interment took place in the Elkader cemetery beside the two children who passed away in infancy. The casket supporters were George Kramer, Harold MacKean, Charles Easton, F. Stahl, C. B. Brown and Will Baldridge. Miss Minnie Wolter, a daughter of eleven children, was born at Elkader, Aug. 23, 1882. On Sept. 6, 1899, at Monona, she was united in marriage to John R. Baker. They resided on farms near here until five years ago they moved to town. Mrs. Baker was a kind and loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Christian church and lived daily to its teachings. For some time Mrs. Baker's health has been poorly but she was not confined to her bed until four weeks ago. During that time her sufferings were intense and everything was done for her, but to no avail, and surrounded by her husband, children and sisters she passed peacefully away last Monday evening with a smile on her face. She is survived by her heartbroken husband, three sons, Arnold, Clarence L. and Vernon J., also by two little grandchildren, whom were greatly devoted to her, and seven sisters and one brother: Mesdames Lena Alderson of Oldham, S.D.: Louise Becker of Underwood, N.D; Emma Fisk of Edmunds, Wash.; Fred Stahl of Osborne; Rose Peake of Elkader; Charles Fliehler of Strawberry Point; Miss Sophia Wolter of Edmunds, Wash.; and Paul Wolter of Glenwood.
