Chas. E. Witt passed away at his home here on Tuesday afternoon after an illness of over two years. He was a patient sufferer during these long months and all was done that was possible to relieve his pain. Mr. Witt was a man who was well known throughout the county, having served six years as a member of the County Board of Supervisors. His activities as an officer in this township, city and county were of the highest type of service to his fellowmen. Mr. Witt departed this life at the age of sixty-two years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Ethel, of Cedar Rapids; and Donald, of Oelwein; his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Witt, and many other relatives. Masonic services were held Thursday afternoon at the home, with interment in the city cemetery.
