Nettie R. Vaughan was born Oct. 31, 1868, near the base line of Kane County, Ill., coming when about a year old with her parents to McGregor, where they settled on a farm near sixteen. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Jay Davis, of Bridgeport, Wis. To this union two children were born, viz., Arthur and Ora Davis, both of Waterville, Iowa. Her husband passed away when the children were small.

In 1892 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Russell. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Robert Garms, of Monona, and Mrs. Henry Zahn, of Yakima, Washington. Mr. Russell preceded her in death May 8, 1928, since which time she made her home with her children. During the fore part of the summer she went to visit her daughter, Mrs. Henry Zahn, of Yakima, Washington. were she suddenly became ill and within a few days was called to the land of rest, passing away Aug. 29, at the age of 60 years, nine months and 29 days.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Robert Garms and Mrs. Henry Zahn, and two sons, Arthur and Ora Davis, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. R. J. Brown, of Luana, and four brothers Jess Vaughan, of McGregor; Trum, of Harpers Ferry; Joe, of Waterville; and James, of Daisy, N.D., besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Robert Garms home on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 3, with burial in the city cemetery, Rev. Morrow officiating.
