McGregor News:—With deep sorrow and grief we report the death of John H. Helberg, one of the best known business men, having lived in our city for almost thirty years. Shoveling off the melting snow from a leaking roof, (Sunday the 14th inst.,) working backwards, he stepped off the edge of the roof and slipped so far that he lost all foothold and after hanging for a while on the eves-trough he had to let go, and falling down 35 feet, the bones in his legs telescoped and broke in several places, and his whole body was so much injured that after three days death relieved him of his indescribable agony.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name spelled Hellberg. He was born in 1837 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
