Clayton County Register, Thur., 08 Aug. 1929.
Mrs. Louise Benzing, nee Tangeman, was born Feb. 21, 1851, at Garnavillo. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and remained a member of this Creed.
When 19 years of age she was united in marriage to Conrad Benzing, also of Garnavillo. This union was blessed with nine children, three of which preceded her in death in their infancy. She became a widow by the death of her husband on March 10, 1899. After that she made her home mostly with her son, Fred, on a farm near Farmersburg. Last year at Christmas she accompanied her daughter, Minnie, to the state of Kansas, where she became ill with an attack of influenza, and during her whole stay at her daughter's home she was confined to her bed most of the time. She passed away Aug. 1, a victim of creeping paralysis, at the age of 78 years, five months and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her death the children, Anna, Mrs. Frank Gilbert, of Bayfield, Wis.; John, of Rolla, Kansas; Louis, Fred and Gust, of Farmersburg; Minnie, Mrs. Johnson, of Minneola, Kansas. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 4, from the home of her son, Gust, in Farmersburg, and the Lutheran church with Pastor Robt. Ave-Lallemant officiating.
