God, our Heavenly Father, in his great love has called another one of his children to come to his home above and there he'll meet this aged mother whom a few short months was called away to her heavenly home where she's gone to stay.
As God does teach us,
he will a place prepare
If we live close to him
and a life of prayer.Ernest Ransom Goodwin was born November 8th, 1872, at Volga City, Iowa, and died April 1, 1929, at Volga City in the old home of his birth, after three months of serious illness. He was very patient in all his suffering unto the end. He was tenderly cared for by loved ones but all that loving hands could do was of no avail for God had a different plan.
He was united in marriage June 8th, 1922, to Beatrice Curler. He and his wife united with the Methodist church at Volga City about five years ago, with the exception of a few years, his entire life was spent at Volga. He leaves to mourn his loving wife and three children, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, two sons, Robert Clarence and Ernest Ransom Jr. One daughter died in infancy. Five sisters and one brother, Louis E. Goodwin of Arcadia, California; Mrs. E. E. Howe of Galesburg, Ill.; Mrs. Robert R. Duff of Volga, Ia.; Mrs. H. R. Palmer of Hawkeye; Mrs. Wm. F. Yearous of Highland; Mrs. C. W. Askew of Utica, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. His father and one sister, Grace, preceded him in death some years ago. His patience he revealed in his months of suffering was characteristic of his entire life. He was also a very observing and interested neighbor. People in need were always drawing upon his sympathy because he could not see them suffer and not try to help them. We can never have too many people like Ernest in a community and now there is left a vacant place we'll miss from our home, a dear ones face. But why should we sorrow or shed many tears for we're only here a few short years and there we can, our dear ones meet in the heavenly home at the mercy seat.
