Clayton County Register, Thur., 03 Jan. 1929. Strawberry Point column.
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Fuehr occurred Sunday evening, Dec. 23, at the home of her son, Otto, after a brief illness of heart trouble. Hardly anyone knew she was sick as on Saturday she had returned from Dundee, where she was caring for a sick daughter. She went to her son's and while there passed away. Miss Elizabeth Schaaf was born at Bereo, Ohio, in 1854. She was united in marriage to Rev. George Heinrich Fuehr at Bereo. In August, 1875, Rev. Fuehr received a call from the St. Sebald church which at that time was one of the oldest Lutheran churches in Iowa, having been founded twenty years previous. He was pastor of the church for more than forty years and in 1919 he retired from ministerial work and moved to Strawberry Point. Rev. Fuehr passed away Nov. 21, 1920. The funeral services of Mrs. Fuehr were held Thursday afternoon at the Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Jahr. Interment took place in the St. Sebald cemetery. She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Bernard of Cleveland, Ohio; Theodore of Cedar Rapids; Otto of this place; and Mrs. Clara Hilliger of Dundee; also thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
