Elkader Register, Thur., 12 Nov. 1925. Guttenberg columns.

J. F. Hoffman [sic], an old G.A.R. veteran, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Saylor, at North Buena Vista, Tuesday evening. Deceased was born at Naples, Ill., about 85 years ago. He was married at Muscatine, Iowa, to Miss Susie Miller, who preceded him in death three years ago. He has been a resident of North Buena Vista for the past thirty years. Three daughters, Mrs. Dave Tinkey, of Guttenberg, Mrs. J. Johnson, of McCartney, Mo., and Mrs. Ed Saylor of North Buena Vista, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many other relatives survive him. Burial will be in the Guttenberg cemetery.

Note: correct name is John Thomas Huffman
