ACCIDENT AT WEST YARDS
Saturday evening about 8 o'clock Henry Farmer was killed at the West Yards at North McGregor by switch engine No. 1003, Wm. Keen, engineer.

He was seen about an hour before walking up the track in a very intoxicated condition. Mr. Keen says he saw an object lying in the middle of the track, but thought it a pile of cinders. When he passed over it he felt a jar and knew he had run over something. He stopped the engine and went back, and found Henry Farmer lying in the middle of the track. His right leg severed below the knee, left foot cut half off, head split open, wrist broken and bruised on the side.

Coroner Scholz of Guttenberg, was notified and came up and held an inquest. He impaneled a jury, who after hearing the evidence rendered a verdict that Henry Farmer came to his death by being run over by switch engine No. 1003, while in an intoxicated condition and exhonerating the railroad company from any blame.
