Elkader Register, Thur., 12 Mar. 1925.

Mrs. Dorothy Fascher, nee Zahn.

Our beloved sister took her departure Tuesday March 3rd about half past eleven in the evening. Like a shock of fully matured corn she is gathered into the Heavenly garner. She over reached the limit of human life as set by the psalmist when he says, "The day of our years are threescore years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow for it is soon cut off and we fly away." (P 90:10) Our departed came sister was born Sept. 4, 1836, at Werder near Sechausen Altmark, Germany. She received there the Sacrament of the Holy Baptism and was confirmed by Rev. Zolman. In 1860 our deceased sister was united in marriage with Mr. Henry Fascher. To this blessed union was born one daughter Dorothy. She married Carl Seeland in Boardman Township. In 1872 our departed sister has made together with her husband and daughter the trip over the Atlantic to this country of old Glory. She resided at Clayton Center first two years. Then she moved to Boardman township in order to do farming. She lived here till her husband went home. This sad event took place thirty years ago in 1895. Then our departed sister made her home in her only daughter's residence. Here she lived nearly 30 years. And indeed she enjoyed the loving kindness and special care of her daughter Mrs. Carl Seeland, who did for her dear mother all she could to make her burdens light. Her beloved daughter Mrs. Carl Seeland made her feel that it was not so much a duty but rather a pleasure to care for her every want. Thank God, for all this. God made our departed sister not only a dear mother but also a beloved sister and loving grandma. She had lived to see five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her deeply troubled daughter Mrs. Carl Seeland, her mournful sister Mrs. Teodore, Clayton Center,, by Mr. Henry Seeland, Boardman township, Charles, Wagner township; Ella Gottschalk, Boardman twp., Wm., Wagner twp. and Louis, Boardman twp. Lots of other relatives, friends and neighbors are going to mourn this deceased soul. She was the eldest member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the Lutheran Church at Clayton Center. Her pastor Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg spoke really impressive words of consolation in the mourning house, in the church and at the grave. Interment was in the old cemetery of the Zions Lutheran Church at Clayton Center. Friday March 6th. We understand may apply to our departed sister the affecting words of the poet:

Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep;
A calm and undisturbed repose,
unbroken by the last of foes."

She reached an age of 88 years, 5 months and 27 days.
