Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Jan. 1925. Garber column.
Isabella Hageman Rodas was born July 1st, 1863, in Elkport, Iowa, and died in her home in Garber, Jan. 10, 1925, thus leaving her age at 61 years, 6 months and 9 days. She spent her early childhood in attending school at Mt. Harmony and there grew to young womanhood. On Nov. 10, 1885, she was united in marriage to Charles Rodas. To this union 8 children were born, three of whom, Bertha, Grace and Mary, preceded their mother in death.
Those living are: John, living near Garnavillo; Mrs. Alma McDowell, near Elkader; Charles at Garber; and Fred and Frank at home. Mrs. Rodas enjoyed good health caring for her loved ones and doing those many acts which only a wife and mother can, and part of their lives were spent on the farm, near Wolf Creek. When north of Garber and finally to Garber about three years ago, a severe nervous trouble arose and in spite of the best medical aid and the greatest of care of a faithful nurse and loving acts and deeds of her loved ones the Angel of Death came and led her to the land of Rest, where all hope to meet some sweet day, to part no more. May she rest in peace !
Those attending from a distance were: John Rodas, Wm. Crauca of Hamlin, N.Y.; Roy Fuhrman of Cedar Rapids; Carl Fuhrman of Strawberry Point.
