Dorothy Eddleman [Edelman] Voss was born in Germany Nov. 25th, 1832, and emigrated with her parents to Guttenberg in 1851. In 1854 she was married to Frederick Voss. To this union nine children were born, five of which are living and were present at her funeral. They are Henry, the only son; Mesdames H. L. and P. P. Gifford, Mrs. A. Rumbaugh and Mrs. F. C. Andresen, at whose home she passed away on Monday, March 6th, at eight a. m. She was a member of the Lutheran church which she joined at thirteen years of age. She was a good Christian mother and loved by all. She was an early pioneer in Clayton county and spent the most part of her life in this county, with the exception of seventeen years which she spent in Nebraska, at which place her husband died seven years ago. Her age was 72 years, 4 months and 9 days. Her motto was
“Keep me little and unknown,
Purged and loved by God alone.”May she rest in peace.
