Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 12 Nov. 1897. Local Scrap Bag columns.

DIED - Hazel Grace Preston daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Preston, died at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jaeger, on the Geo. Rawson farm, Oct. 27th, 1897, aged 17 months and 12 days. The little one was sick but six days when brain fever carried it away. Bright-eyed, loving favorite as she was her loss is deeply mourned by the family and friends. The funeral services were held at the Taylorville schoolhouse, conducted by Rev. Hollert and burial was in the cemetery nearby.
