Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 05 Mar. 1897. Garnavillo column.

The funeral of Mrs. J. F. Bierbaum, aged 55 years, took place Thursday, Feb. 25. For the past fifteen months Mrs. Bierbaum suffered with the dreaded disease consumption, and on Monday, Feb. 22nd death released her of all suffeing.

(Note: WPA records indicate Susanna Bierbaum, 1841 - 22 Feb. 1897, buried in Garnavillo City cemetery.)

Burial is in the Garnavillo Community cemetery. Her maiden name is given as Susanna Fettler in John F.'s obituary and as Susanna Mettler in his 1882 biography.
