Elkader Register, Thur., 06 Dec. 1900. Boehm's Mound column.
Mrs Julia Freeman, wife of Asa Freeman, died at her home Friday morning at 10 o'clock, and was buried Sunday in the Brookshier* cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and two children besides other relatives and friends. We sympathize with the bereaved.
*Asa Freeman's 1940 obituary states he was buried in Hillcrest cemetery "...beside his first wife, the former Julia Samp". It is possible that she was originally buried in Brookshire cemetery & later re-interred to Hillcrest. Verification should be made.

DIED - Friday, Nov. 29th, 1900, Julia Samp Freeman, wife of Asa Freeman, aged 27 years.
It is with deepest regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of this most estimable lady. Julia Samp was born in Berlin Germany, July 4th, 1873, and was married to Asa Freeman Nov. 20th, 18__ (looks like 1895-6).
Mrs. Freeman was sick but a few short hours and died before medical aid could reach her. She leaves a husband and three small children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate wife and mother. The bereaved husband and the little motherless children have the sympathy of all in the death of their beloved wife and mother.
The funeral took place Sunday and was very largely attended. May she rest in peace.
