Mary Melvina Young was born in Mayfield, Pa., Nov. 22, 1843. In 1850 she removed with her parents to Jefferson, O. In June 1859, she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Baptist church, and has since lived as a consistent Christian. In the spring of 1864 she went to Elkader, Iowa. Oct. 16, 1866, she was married to Orrin P. Stewart to which union were born four children, three of whom, Mrs. Laura M. Scott, Mrs. Ora Fisk and Miss Etta Stewart, survive her. In 1872 they moved to Lincoln county, Kas., and from there they went in 1882 to Colorado where the husband died in 1896, after which her health failing she was obliged to seek a lower altitude, and came to McLouth in 1896.
She departed this life Oct. 30th, going to meet the rest awaiting her on the other side.
The funeral was preached by the pastor of the Baptist church from II Cor. 5-4. She was laid to rest in the new cemetery on the G.A.R. lot, there to await the coming of her Lord. - McLouth, Kas. Times, Nov. 2.
Deceased was a sister of the late Mrs. Wm. M_y_r, and sister-in-law of Mrs. R. E. Price and Mrs. Wing, of this place.
