Elkader Register, Thur., 06 Sept. 1900. Local News columns.
Magdaline Loveday, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Phillips, of Austinville, Ia., was born May 11th and died September 1, 1900. The family was making an overland trip from Austinville to Elkader and when they reached Waterloo the little child complained some, so the mother and her sister, Mrs. Herzog, took the train for Fairbanks, where the little one died. They brought the child to Elkader and buried it Sunday afternoon. Services were held in the Congregational church conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Baxter. Mrs. Phillips lived in Elkader in her younger days, being Miss Clara Kreig, cousin of Mrs. Geo. Muegge and Mrs. Wm. Witt, on this city. We sympathize with the bereaved parents.
