Elkader Register, Thur., 19 July 1900. Garnavillo column.
The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meyer died Monday morning at seven o'clock and was buried Wednesday afternoon on the family lot in the new cemetery. Rev. Baxter, of Elkader, conducted the funeral services. The babe was the idol of its parents and came to bless their home about four months ago, but the smile which once filled their hearts with joy has now passed away leaving only the memory to be cherished by these sorrowing friends.
The fairest flower we fondly love,
How soon it fades and dies !
But purer it will bloom above
In bowers of paradise.
