Lydia Epps died at the Finley hospital in Dubuque, Thursday May 24th, at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 14 days. Lydia was the second daughter of L. and Mary Epps, and was born and raised in Volga. For the last two or three months she has suffered with some painful disease which seemed incurable. On Tuesday she was taken to Dubuque to the hospital where she died at the above date. Mrs. Epps brought the remains home on Friday and the funeral conducted from the M.E. church Friday afternoon was largely attended. The deceased was a loving daughter, sister and friend and was loved by all. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. Epps appreciated the kindness and assistance they received, especially from the young men and wish to give them a special thanks.
