Elkader Register, Thur., 17 May 1900. From the Strawberry Point Press, undated.
Aaron D. Brandenberg was born Feb. 29th, 185_, in Taxwell Co., Ill., and died at his home near this place May 2nd, 1900.
He enlisted in the service of his master at the age of 15 years and continued in the faith till he was called from the ranks on May 2nd at 4:25 p.m. when the spirit left its place of abode, clasped the door and went away.
Many who have had more favorable environments have not lived so well as he. He was an honest husband and father, and fair with his fellowmen. He was more than fond of music. His favorite songs were "Building For Eternity," and "There Be No Dark River There."
A devoted wife, two sons and three daughters survive him. "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." The friends have the sympathy of all who know them. Funeral services conducted at the Pleasant Grove church by the pastor.
