Elkader Register, Thur., 19 Apr. 1900.

At her home in Sperry twp., on Thursday, April 12th, 1900, occurred the death of Mrs. David Molumby. The Saturday previous she had arisen, apparently in her usual health, and had made her plans as to observing Easter, when she was suddenly taken with an attack of apoplexy, and lingered until Thursday when she passed away in her 70th year. Catherine Murphy was born Aug. 20th, 1830, in County Kerry, Ireland, and when about 16 came to America, landing at Boston. Here while Mr. Molumby, who had lost his first wife was back on a visit, they were married June 30th, 1864. They came at once to Mr. Molumby's home in Highland twp. They moved to Sperry twp., about 1871. She is survived by her aged husband, two sons, Joseph, at Volga City, Arthur at Prairie Queen, S.D., Mrs. Peter Glennon at home, and three step-sons, John and David of Prairie Queen, S.D., and Maurice at home.

Mrs. Molumby was a kind and affectionate mother, and especially so to the children of another who were left to her care. A faithful devoted member of her church, a true friend and neighbor. She was esteemed and honored by all who knew her. Her sudden demise comes to her family as a fearful blow and especially so to her aged companion. We sympathize with them in their deep bereavement. The funeral was held on Sunday last at the Catholic church at Volga City, Rev. Daly officiating, attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbors.
