Elkader Register, Thur., 15 Mar. 1900.
At his residence in this place on Friday, March 9th, 1900, after a short illness, Garner Lloyd passed away to the silent shore beyond. He had been afflicted with rheumatism for several years and since the serious illness of Mr. Thos. Templeman, his father-in-law, had over worked himself in caring for the old gentleman. This brought on the disease which settled in his heart and has proved fatal.
Mr. Lloyd was born in this county March 9th, 1854. On Dec. 25th, 1876, he married Mary Ann Templeman, and resided on the farm in Boardman township, until about seven years ago when they moved to Elkader, where they have since resided. Garner was a genial, whole-souled man, honest in all his dealings and industrious. It is to be regretted that he is thus cut off in the prime of life. He will be missed and mourned by many friends who honored and respected him.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. S. E. Yaggy officiating, assisted by Rev. G. W. Baxter.
