Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Feb. 1900. McGregor column.
Mrs. Wilhelmenia Werder helped in the care of Mrs. A. M. Goddard, whose demise we made mention of last week. After all help was needless she went home, herself sick with grip. She became steadily worse and Sunday night died. She was about _5 (looks like 65 or 85) years of age, and usually of good health. A native of Germany, she was united in marriage to J. W. Werder, whose death occurred about ten years ago. She leaves two sons, Ed. of Charles City, Will of Ashland, Wis., and four daughters, Mrs. Emma Dornbach, Mrs. Edith Goddard of this city, and Mrs. Minnie Goergen of Ashland, and Bertha, who has lived at home with her mother. Mrs. Werder was a member of the German Presbyterian church, and Rev. DuBeer officiated at the funeral, Thursday morning. Minnie arrived from Ashland and Ed from Charles city, but Will was unable to come, being at Hot Springs for treatment.
