On Thursday evening Feb. 8th at his residence occurred the death of John O'Connor at the age of 68. The subject of this sketch was born near the city of Galway in Ireland and was left an orphan at an early age. He emigrated to the United States in 1865 and worked in the city of Philadelphia for a few years, afterwards moving to Maryland and settling at Westernport. There he was united in marriage with Margaret Tr_main, who survives him with four children, Michael J. at Elkport, Edward, Mary and Patrick at home. He came to Clayton Co. in 1883 and settled on the farm where his demise occurred. A few years ago he had a severe attack of the La Grippe from the effects of which he never fully recovered. He was a kind and indulgent father and his loss will be sadly felt by the loved ones who survive him. The funeral took place Saturday and his remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Littleport. Rev. Father Minogue officiated. May he rest in peace.
