On Saturday evening, Jan. 27th at her home in Boardman township, occurred the death of Mrs. Wm. Cheeseman at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 23 days. Mary Ann Underwood was born in Lincolnshire, England, July 4th, 1831. At the age of eighteen years she emigrated to this country with her parents first settling at Cleveland, Ohio. There she was united in marriage to Wm. Cheeseman. They continued to reside there until 1852, when they moved to Clayton county.

Seven children were born to them, four girls and three boys, of whom three sons and one daughter, Geo., Ab, Dan, Mrs. Ran Meisner, survive, with two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Wm. West, of Highland, Mrs. Geo. Cheeseman and Wm. Underwood, of Michigan. An aged husband is left to mourn a faithful and loving wife, who by her kindness and energy has contributed much to enable him to fight the battles of life and enjoy the peacefulness of old age.

The funeral was held Monday morning at the M.E. church at this place, Rev. S. E. Yaggy officiating. In spite of the unfavorable weather many old friends and neighbors attested their respect for the departed in attending the last sad rites.
