Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Jan. 1900. Elkport and Vicinity columns.
Mrs. Timothy Sullivan died Jan. 6th, 1900, at the old home one-half mile north of this place. Mrs. Sullivan was born in the parish of Adair, County Limerick, Ireland, Jan. 20th, 1820. In 1893 she came to America, landing at New York city and thence going to Lowell, Mass., where she married Timothy Sullivan. They then came west settling at Prairie du Chien, Wis. In November, 1859, they came to Elkport and settled on the farm where she died. Five children survive her, Mrs. John Burns, of Volga City, Jerry Sullivan, of Fairfax, Iowa, John at Osterdock, and Dan and Anna still remaining on the old homestead. She was a kind mother, a good neighbor and a devout member of the Catholic church. The funeral was held Monday from the Catholic church at this place. May she rest in peace.
(Note: The year of her arrival in the U.S. appears to be published in error. WPA records give her death date as 04 Jan. 1900.)
