Keith Dwaine Baumgartner, 85, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at his residence. He was born April 3, 1935, he was born in Fayette County and was the son of John A. and Ina (Fliehler) Baumgartner. He was baptized August 15, 1938 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point, IA and confirmed April 10, 1949. Keith received his education through 8th grade at a Cass township country school southwest of Strawberry Point, IA. He then attended some high school classes at Strawberry Point High School and later received his GED. Keith was employed at Arlington Creamery and Goodrich Produce in Strawberry Point, prior to entering the service. Keith was a US Army Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division for 2 years and was a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged July 31, 1962.

Keith was united in marriage to Evelin Jonell Kubicek on November 20th, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Three children were born to this union. The couple lived on the Baumgartner family farm where they raised their family. Keith worked at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, AMPI in Arlington, SunLite Dairy in Strawberry Point and was a rural mail carrier in the Strawberry Point area for many years until retirement.

Keith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Most recently, he enjoyed celebrating his 85th birthday with a card shower. In his spare time and after retirement, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, mushroom hunting and gardening. In the summers Keith enjoyed camping with family and friends and attending the Old Threshers Reunion. At home, Keith loved feeding and learning about birds as he became an avid bird watcher. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time on the farm with his yellow lab Rocky always by his side. Papa B will be dearly missed this fall when 2 more great-grandchildren will be added to the family.

Keith is survived by his wife Evelin Baumgartner; two sons Kevin (Lisa) Baumgartner, Douglas (Lori) Baumgartner, and one daughter Kimberly (Rodney) Hettinger all of Strawberry Point; eight grandchildren, Sara (Fiance Alex Hawkins) Baumgartner, Evan Baumgartner, Taylor (Bennet) Klostermann, Nicole and Katelyn Baumgartner, Bryan (Jacki) Hettinger, Baily (Russel) Fredericksen, and Emily Hettinger; four great-grandchildren, Anders, Adalyn, Ellie and Brynlee; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Baumgartner of Strawberry Point, Karen Kubicek of Dyersville, and Marla Ramirez of Marion; one brother-in-law, Wayne Thurn of Edgewood, and many nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Robert (Rita) Baumgartner, Floyd (Kay) Baumgartner, Daryl Baumgartner, Edward (Alice) Baumgartner; two sisters Doris (Lyle) Carnicle, Sharyl Thurn; and one brother-in-law Timothy Kubicek
