Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Dec. 1922. Strawberry Point column.

Sunday morning occurred the death of Jake Ludy, aged 65 years. Last July Mr. Ludy was stricken with a stroke of paralysis and since that time he has been in failing health altho he was up and about most of the time and able to come to town frequently and enjoy a few hours with his friends. He was a faithful husband, a noble father and his greatest pleasure was to see those about him happy. No task, no matter how big, was too much of an undertaking if it would give some of his friends or loved ones a few moments pleasure, yet the smallest service tendered in his behalf would fill him with happiness. Mr. Ludy in the flesh has gone from our midst and a wide circle of friends aside from the relatives mourn. But his influence, his noble example, his teachings in the home are left and will ever remain with us. He was an earnest member of the M.W.A., Masonic and I.O.O.F. Lodges taking an active part in each lodge so far as he was able and endeavoring to carry the teachings into his every day life. Funeral services will be held in the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Kirbry under the auspices of the Masonic and I.O.O.F. Lodges. Interment takes place in our beautiful cemetery. Besides his wife and daughter, Miss Pearl, student at Ames, he leaves an aged mother and three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Blanchard and Mrs. B. Weeks, of this place and Mrs. Minnie Albright of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends. In heaven above earth's inequalities are righted, there is no sickness there, nor any sorrow and as we contemplate the goodness and mercy of God, we say with the wise men of old, "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

For God hath marked each sorrowing day,
And numbered every secret tear
And Heaven's long age of bliss shall pay
For all his children suffer here.
