Elkader Register, Thur., 19 Oct. 1922. Strawberry Point column.

A terrible accident occurred Sunday about 4 o'clock at the Oneida railroad crossing which cost the lives of three young people. Friday evening Miss Vera Kramer, the sixteen year old and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kramer, and a member of the senior class of our public school went to the Henry Hoyer home near Manchester to remain until Sunday with Miss Verna Hoyer, who for the past two years attended school here. In the afternoon, Glen Hoyer, his sister Verna, and Miss Kramer and Roy Ryan, of near Dundee, started for an auto ride in a new Chevrolet sedan owned by Ryan's farther, Bert Ryan, but at the Oneida crossing a stock train hit them demolishing the car and killing Miss Kramer, Glen Hoyer and Roy Ryan. The bodies were taken to Manchester to the undertaking parlors and given the best of care, and Miss Kramer's body was brought here to the undertaker's parlors but was so badly cut up no one could see her. Her funeral will be held this afternoon (Tuesday) at the home of her parents. Rumors are the door of the car came open and Miss Hoyer saw the danger and jumped which probably saved her life and was hurt some, but aside from the terrible shock she is getting along nicely. Death at all times is hard too bear but when it takes three young people with such a bright future before them and without a moments warning, what can be sais to comfort the bereaved parents. The heartbroken parents have the heartfelt sympathy of all.

(Same paper, date and column was listed the following.)

Among the relatives from out of town who attended the funeral of Miss Vera Kramer, Tuesday afternoon, were Mr. and Mrs. John Cherry and children of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. W. Domner and children of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Pilgrim and children, Mr. and Mrs. Will Kramer and children of Edgewood, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Wise of Moline, Ill.

(Note: Oneida is in Delaware County, Iowa.)
