Henry Kamm an old pioneer of this place was called by death on last Wednesday, August 9, 1922, at 9:20 a.m. after a lingering illness of 9 months duration at his home in Buena Vista township at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 4 days. Mr. Kamm was born in Wertemberg, Germany, Dec. 5, 1842, coming to America with his brother Christ and settling at Decorah, Iowa, on October 12, 1865. After one year at Decorah Mr. Kamm went to Fort Scott Kansas, and two years later he came to Dubuque County, Ia., working in and around Bankston. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Bockel of near Waupeton, Dubuque County. After their marriage they moved to a farm near North Buena Vista, where the remainder of his life was spent. His brother Christ preceded him in death on April 2, 1902, also one daughter and four sons preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Magee, Independence, Iowa, Mrs. A. C. Noggle, North Buena Vista, and three sons, Robert of Dubuque, Joe of North Buena Vista, and George at home.

Funeral services were held from his late home to the Lutheran church at Balltown, on last Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Zeilinger of Dubuque officiating, both at the home and the church. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

The casket bearers were three sons and three nephews, Robert, Joe, and George, Henry, Ernest and Otto Kamm.
