In addition to his religious life he was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah fraternal societies for over twenty years. Until recent years Mr. Jewell enjoyed good health, but during the last few years he was confined to his home because of frequent attacks of convulsions which gradually sapped the life until the end came on Saturday morning at 1:40 a.m. June 17th at the ripe age of 80 years. He retained consciousness up to the last and showed great appreciation for his loved ones. We owe it to him to say, that he was a devoted husband, a loving father and a man of social qualities.
