Friends were pained to hear of the death of Mrs. Wm. Dickman, which occurred at her home in Garnavillo township on Sunday morning, May 28th. Although aware of her illness which extended over several months, they had hoped that she might regain her health. After a busy and useful life she died at the age of 61 years and 8 months, honored, trusted and loved.

Mrs. Anna Dickman, nee Ruckdaeschel, was born on Sept. 28th, 1860, in Read township, as the 5th oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Ruckdaeschel. On Nov. 9th, 1886, she was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Dickman. This union was blessed with seven children, one of whom preceded the mother in death.

Mrs. Dickman was taken sick in February and about six weeks ago suffered a stroke of paralysis, which attacked her right side, the last week her body was completely paralyzed. She was tenderly cared for by her family until the 28th of May, about 4 a.m. she closed her eyes in everlasting sleep, leaving her husband, two daughters, Amanda and Melinda at home, and Mrs. Adela Bareis of Grand Meadow twp., and Mrs. Louise Wirkler of this place; one grandchild; two brothers Christ Ruckdaeschel of Postville and John Ruckdaeschel of Grand Meadow twp.; and two sisters, Mrs. John Thoma and Mrs. Margaret Kluss of Postville. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Church, Tuesday afternoon, May 30th, Rev. Braun officiating. Interment in the new cemetery.
