Mrs. Frederika Greve died on April 19th, 1922, at Littleport, Iowa, after an illness lasting nine months, due mostly to old age.
Frederika Possehl was born August 26th, 1833, in Mecklenberg, Germany, and was married on May 6th, 1857, at Dubuque, Iowa, to William Greve. To this union eleven children were born, three of whom, Mrs. Bertha Mierson, Frank and Otto, preceded the mother in death.
The eight children who survive and mourn the loss of a loving and kind mother are: Mrs. Frederika Harms, Oxford Jct., Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Enderes, Littleport, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Steen, Elkader, Iowa; Mrs. Minnie Nelson, Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Hamilton, Aurora, Ill.; William Greve, Fairburg, Nebr.; George Greve, Greve, Mont.; and Fred Greve, Blairsburg, Iowa. Besides these there are 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren to mourn her passing.
In the same year of her marriage, 1857, deceased came to this county, where her husband died on June 29th, 1890. About nine years ago she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Enderes who has given her mother every care and comfort that was at her command.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 22, 1922, and interment was made in the Colony cemetery, with Rev. C. H. Franke of the Evangelical church officiating.
