Mrs. Henry Lange passed away at the home of her son Charles, near Mederville, on Thursday, February 23rd, 1922, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 14 days.

Deceased was the daughter of John and Wihelmina Zahrndt, and was born in Prussia, Germany, on November 9th, 1842. In 1853 the family emigrated to America, and settled in Cox Creek township.

On January 15th, 1862, she was united in marriage with Henry Lange, and to this union nine children were born, of which one boy and one girl preceded the mother in death. Her husband preceded her in death about 18 years ago. After the death of her husband the deceased made her home with her son Charles and family and here she was tenderly cared for.

She is survived by seven children, three daughters and four sons: Mrs. Emma Marshall of Bellingham, Washington; Mrs. Laura Reichart of Littleport; Mrs. Mame Mentzel of Cox Creek township; William Lange of Dubuque; Charles on the home farm in Cox Creek township; Hugo Lange of Two Dott, Mont.; and Ray Lange of Cedar Rapids; she is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and a large circle of friends.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon, February 27th, 1922; services were held at the Charles Lange home near Mederville and the Evangelical church here conducted by Rev. Franke, after which the remains were laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
